A Simple Life

by Gloria Wendroff -

Heavenletters:

A simple life is a life lived from the heart. The heart is full to the brim and yet, with a full heart, there is always room for more. A simple heart is an open heart. It is uncluttered. It is not distracted. There is nothing to distract it.

A Human Being who lives a simple life takes care of what he has and has joy from it. The simple heart is always free to not have what it treasures because it knows that the freedom and ability to let go are greater treasure. A simple life is fluid, never looks back, and therefore is never turned into salt. As you live a simple life, you are like a cow who grazes. And so you graze in life. The grass is green wherever you graze.

Simplify your life now.

Walk into the horizon without cumbersome details. You, who wish to lead a simpler life, require little, or nothing at all, because wherever you walk, I walk with you and, so, you have all you need. You have more than you need. You don’t need the fear and worry you carry with you. You don’t need a sense of security either because I am your security. Look less to the world to hold you up. Let the world do its thing, and We’ll do Ours.

Without fail, the sun dawns every day. Without fail, the moon rises. Stars shine. And there is always weather. And love is always afoot, standing at every corner, keeping an eye out for you.

Living a simple life is such a great relief.

Leading a simple life, you have untied yourself from all the little boundaries, all the must have’s, all the extraneous. You become like a wayfarer who plays his fiddle along the way. You don’t have big pockets. You may have none, and you stroll through life, not as a homeless one, but as one at Home. The world is your oyster, and you open it.

You can have only one thought in your mind at a time. And you have only one moment to live now. You might as well make it the best moment of many more best moments to come. Best moments stand in line for you, eager to serve you, eager to be lived, and eager to be noticed and regarded as the beautiful gifts they are.

Great moments are ready to pour themselves down on you like rainfall.

You are going to be soaked in Greatness and well-being. And all that you receive, you will spatter on all who are blessed to be near you. Your presence will be a blessing. Simple Human Being, you are a blessing sent from God for the establishment of Heaven on Earth. You are a forerunner of Paradise. You are its emissary. You are the heralder of all the good that is to come.

You shed your dependency upon the trappings of the world, and you enter refreshed and unbeholden to the past, and so you free the world from the past, and you bring light. Without effort, you bring light. You are a lightbringer. You are a forecaster of good news. You shine light as light has never been shone before.

Whatever you may have thought you were yesterday, now you are My pure light on Earth. Pick up your feet, beloveds, and know Whose light you shine, and shine it gladly in reverence to the holiness of life on Earth and all its inhabitants.

You are going to revolutionize the world, and you are going to do it now. You cannot avoid this. And why would you want to avoid this momentous moment, for today you begin a new history of the world, the one everyone has been waiting for.

Cooperating with the Flow of the Universe

by Deepak Chopra -

Five Keys to Active Mastery:

  • 1. Listen to your body’s wisdom, which expresses itself through signals of comfort and discomfort. When choosing a certain behavior, ask your body, “How do you feel about this?” If your body sends a signal of physical or emotional distress, watch out. If your body sends a signal of comfort and eagerness, proceed.

  • 2. Live in the present, for it is the only moment you have. Keep your attention on what is here and now; look for the fullness in every moment. Accept what comes to you totally and completely so that you can appreciate it, learn from it, and then let it go.The present is as it should be. It reflects infinite laws of Nature that have brought you this exact thought, this exact physical response. This moment is as it is because the universe is as it is. Don’t struggle against the infinite scheme of things; instead, be at one with it.
  • 3. Take time to be silent, to meditate, to quiet the internal dialogue. In moments of silence, realize that you are recontacting your source of pure awareness. Pay attention to your inner life so that you can be guided by intuition rather than externally imposed interpretations of what is or isn’t good for you.
  • 4. Relinquish your need for external approval. You alone are the judge of your worth, and your goal is to discover infinite worth in yourself, no matter what anyone else thinks. There is great freedom in this realization.
  • 5. When you find yourself reacting with anger or opposition to any person or circumstance, realize that you are only struggling with yourself. Putting up resistance is the response of defenses created by old hurts. When you relinquish this anger, you will be healing yourself and cooperating with the flow of the universe.

Entering Reality

by Robert Rabbin -

In the beginning, meditation is a practice that teaches us to focus our attention on a single point, perhaps the breath or a mantra or the space between two thoughts. As we focus, we discover how many thoughts we have.

We begin to see that the mind is nothing but thoughts about things and thoughts about thoughts.

The mind races without order or purpose from one thing to the next, careening from the past to the future. We also see that all of these thoughts are self-centered; that is, all of the scenes that our thoughts create have the central character of "me."

As we continue to focus the mind, we begin to observe our thoughts and feeling states without getting lost in them.

We see that these mental/emotional states arise in numberless waves within the mind, as the mind.

That which observes the thought-stream is awareness, which is qualitatively different than thinking. It has a depth and silence to it. Gradually, we begin to perceive with this awareness, in silence. And, as we do, our self-centeredness begins to dissolve.

Meditation practice calls us to the silence of pure awareness.

The power of awareness, that consciousness behind the thoughts and images of the concept-loving mind, liberates us from the limiting conditions that are created by concepts and beliefs--such as self-centeredness.

A State of Being

Entering this silence signals the end of meditation as a practice as an exercise in concentration and the beginning of meditation as a state of being.

A different way of seeing and knowing is aroused, a capacity of intuitive perception that is holistic and instantaneous.

In the stillness of meditation, we feel a subtle, pervasive Presence.

Our thoughts continue to appear but they no longer obscure that Presence. This is called natural meditation, the experience of our own essence.

Our essence is a glowing Presence, a shimmering light around everything. It is indescribably beautiful and in the midst of this beauty we fall in love with all things.

Whether we see it nor not, the light of the Presence shines within us.

If we would just sit quietly by the open window of our heart for a few minutes each day, soon that light would be evident to us, and soon that awakened light would heal, inspire, and enlighten us.

We would enter reality and become lovers and servants of this reality. And then everyone would be in love with all things.

Healing the Emptiness

by Joseph Naft -

Several forms of emptiness can face us: the more common, lower forms that we can work to heal and the higher emptiness that heals us. At times the lower emptiness assails us, perhaps as a world weariness or ennui.

We fall into the grip of boredom or the feeling of wasting time, of having nothing or too much to do, of being tired of the routines and frustrations of life, of dissatisfaction with our job, our entertainments, or the people around us.

We usually confront this lower emptiness by filling it with busyness, new entertainments, shopping, overeating, substance abuse or other distractions from our quotidian existence.

Yet there it is: that dissatisfaction with life.

A more seriously debilitating form of emptiness arises through dissatisfaction with ourselves.

Self-criticism and self-doubt can draw us into despondency, despair and even self-loathing. Difficult childhood experiences can create long-lasting wounds that condition us for gnawing dissatisfaction with ourselves. The loss of a significant relationship, a job or some other major undoing may trigger the descent.

The first antidote to both these types of emptiness is acceptance: accepting our life as it is and accepting ourselves as we are.

This does not preclude working to improve our outer or inner situation but we do so from a base of love and acceptance. Generally this is not so easy, to turn a lifetime of dissatisfaction into acceptance. But it is necessary.

We notice the negative attitudes, thoughts and emotions. While not rejecting them either, we let that awareness prompt us to adopt a stance of acceptance, to let go of our demands and just let ourselves be.

As a further and complementary approach to healing the lower emptiness we turn to spiritual practice, creative work and right action in service to others.

Each of these broadens our ordinary life, opening us to the greater world and connecting us with real meaning.

When we find ourselves in the throes of dissatisfaction, we can practice sensing right then and there, knowing that by doing so we strengthen our soul through an effort of lasting significance.

Sustaining the practice of presence puts us into a very different relationship with life.

Similarly, by entering some creative endeavor or engaging in acts of kindness and service, we touch a region of timeless value.

A different, higher, sacred and unquenchable emptiness lies at our core and forms the doorway to the Divine.

This emptiness increases our hunger while leading us toward the Source of spiritual nourishment. Along the way, this higher emptiness guides us into the utter peace of pure consciousness, where no thing encumbers us.

Stepping further into our empty core, beyond consciousness and peace, all questions vanish or rather they merge into the singleness of purpose of joining in the Divine purpose.

Toward this higher emptiness, our job is to accept, deepen and surrender to it, while asking, praying for its fulfillment from Above.

These upper reaches of emptiness complete the healing of the lower ones, bringing true and lasting satisfaction, contentment and purpose.

To work at healing the emptiness, distinguish among the forms of emptiness confronting you, notice how you normally respond, and consider how you wish to respond.

Your Purpose Will Find You

heart Pictures, Images and Photos

by Dr. Wayne Dyer -

We become what we think about all day long. What thoughts do you have that inhibit you from feeling as if you're on purpose in your life?

For instance, if you think that you're separate from your purpose and that you're drifting without direction through your life, then that's precisely what you'll attract.

Suppose, instead, that you know this is a purposeful universe where your thoughts, emotions and actions are a part of your free will and are also connected to the power of intention.

Suppose that your thoughts of being purposeless and aimless are really a part of your purpose.

Just as the thought of losing someone you love makes you love them even more or an illness makes you treasure your health, suppose that it takes the thought of your unimportance to make you realize your value.

When you're awake enough to question your purpose and ask how to connect to it, you're being prodded by the power of intention.

The very act of questioning why you're here is an indication that your thoughts are nudging you to reconnect to the field of intention.

  • What's the source of your thoughts about your purpose?
  • Why do you want to feel purposeful?
  • Why is a sense of purpose considered the highest attribute of a fully functioning person?

The source of thought is an infinite reservoir of energy and intelligence.

In a sense, thoughts about your purpose are really your purpose trying to reconnect to you. That inner beingness knows why you're here but your ego prods you to chase after money, prestige, popularity and sensory pleasures and miss the purpose of living.

You may feel sated and gain a reputation but inside there's that gnawing feeling typified by the old Peggy Lee song "Is That All There Is?"

Focusing on the demands of the ego leaves you feeling unfulfilled.

Deep within you, at the level of your being is what you were intended to become, to accomplish and to be. In that inner placeless place, you're connected to the power of intention.

It will find you.

Make a conscious effort to contact it and listen.

Practice being what you are at the source of your soul. Go to your soul level, where intention and purpose fit together so perfectly that you achieve the epiphany of simply knowing this is it.

Unfinished Love

by Gloria Wendroff -

Heavenletters:

All love is unfinished. That means that all love is unending.

Love you gave in the past continues. Every kindness you ever gave continues. The waves of love continue. You are riding on them. They transport you. All the love you ever extended continues to extend.

Every connection you have ever made with the heart of another continues its outpouring. How many years ago doesn't matter, for in the matter of love, there is no time. Love is exclusive of time. Love is too momentous to fit into the corners of time.

Love has to go somewhere. It never settles down. It takes everything with it in its swath.

The whole course of your life is a travelogue of love.

Your life points out things to you. Love stars in your life. Start noticing that. Start noticing all the love that is given. And accepted. Quietly given, and quietly accepted. Not in crescendo does love impart itself but in whisper, constant whisper. Listen.

Love is the substance from which you are made. I declare it.

Love is the dust and love is the flame. Love is the medium of life and the medium of your life. Love flows and takes you with it. Only you don't always know what is going on. You don't always know where you are. Most of the time, you don't know where you are.

You think love is something other than you. You think love is something you pick up every now then in pieces. You think it is something imparted to you once in a while, when you are good perhaps but you don't know how good you are and how much love you impart.

You are too good to keep to yourself. Sometimes you only notice yourself in others. Well, then, notice the love in others, and you will see your own.

Start noticing love, the little evidences of it.

Evidences may be small, but love never is small. It cannot be. Smallness is a contradiction to love. Smallness can not fit into the greatness of love. Only greatness befits greatness. Love is sweet and cannot conceive of sour.

Love is purposeful and powerful.

It is the greatest power on earth, and it is your greatest power. Now is when you unleash your love for creation and all created beings. Now is when you remove the cloak you have been wearing and declare yourself love to yourself. You are the only one who has to know the title you wear. But emblazon love itself across the entire universe. The universe has been waiting for your love to reveal itself to itself.

Say to yourself this morning:
"I am love. I am nothing else. There is nothing else in the whole world for me to be but love. It is the easiest thing in the world to acknowledge the love that I am. I am only love. Only love is. I float on love. I moor in love. I am God's embodiment of love. From love I came, and to love I go. My life is based on love, for there is no other basis to life.
Love never runs out. There is no bottom to it. I am a bottomless pit of love. I am a ceilingless height of love. The love in my heart dwells on earth as it dwells in Heaven. I am an incubus of love. My genes are love. My DNA is love. What circulates in my veins is love. My cells are love, deep within themselves and my very breath is love, for it is God that I breathe in and breathe out.
I stand on the summit of love. From this summit, I see life as it is, not as it is purported to be. From the summit of love, I see very well, and I see into the eyes of everyone I meet, and I see God there, and I welcome the love I see and the love I sow. Love welcomes itself. And I am all the love in the world and in Heaven. I AM."

The Way We Affect Others

We may not always realize

that everything we do,

affects not only our lives,

but touches others too.

A single happy smile

can always brighten up the day,

for anyone who happens

to be passing by your way.

And a little bit of thoughtfulness

that shows someone you care,

creates a ray of sunshine

for both of you to share.

Yes, every time you offer

someone a helping hand,

every time you show a friend

you really understand.

Every time you have a kind

and gentle word to give,

you help someone to find beauty

in this precious life we live.

For happiness brings happiness

and loving ways bring love,

and giving is the treasure,

that contentment is made of.

The Angels’ Song

by Carrie Hart -

Deep inside you, a light shines, the light that was born within you as you entered this life. This light is the beacon in the darkness, the warmth in the cold, the harbor and the refuge.

This light is yours, always there, underneath the emotions, underneath the fear and doubt, always there, shining brightly.

Take a deep breath, now. And then another and then another.

Close your eyes and see within you the light in your center. Watch it expand. Watch it expand and expand until it fills your body completely. And as it expands, feel how it contains love and only love.

You are filled with Light.

Feel how that love is stronger than the fear and doubt.  Let it expand and fill you completely and then, let it expand even further out so that you are like a lantern that casts its light far out into the night, glowing and bright, filled with love, filled with light, a bright energetic presence.

See that there is a ring of angels around you.  See them shining out in a bright, white light. They sing of love. They sing of light. They sing of the wonder of this life and send you the courage to live it and live it well.

Listen to their song.

Listen as they sing of your soul's intention for you, how you yearned for this gift of life and received it, how you were given a spark of life, the same spark that shines in your center now.

How you were born and how you have been loved and treasured ever since, how helping hands have been right out before you to encourage you to take those steps toward freedom, how the angels have guarded you and protected you, even as they allowed you to live your own life your own way.

They are there for you now, singing this song, your song, the song of your life, of all the wondrous love that is there for you, now and always, if you will allow it to shine for you and all the guidance and wisdom that is flowing your way each and every moment of every day.

Listen to this song and choose.

Choose certainty and belief over doubt. Choose courageous action over fear. Choose to go deeply into your connection with your soul, with these angels and with God, to find yourself and lift yourself into wisdom and joy.

Choose to shine out with all that you are, in all of your wonder, walking in deep faith like a lantern shining out for yourself and others.

Choose to love and embrace this precious life and every blessing that it brings you, every moment. Give thanks and be glad. You are alive and it is good.

"Be an angel to someone else whenever you can as a way of thanking God for the help your angels have given you."

Being 'An Original'

by Carrie Hart -

You are a deeply creative person. You are an original with things to be said and done in a way which no one else could say and do them.

You are unique in all the world and yet you are deeply connected to all that is and have something important to share with the rest of the world. Yourself.

Do not ask whether you are creative. You are. Ask only for the courage to shine out with all that you are.

Push away the shadows of fear and doubt from your life and open up to yourself. Shine out with all that you are.

Dig deep and find the courage to say what you believe, to live your life in full integrity, to be a walking, talking representation of your truest self.

There is a price paid for each time that you suppress your truth because you are afraid someone else will not approve of it.

Imagine if you were to live your life in full expression of your deepest truths and talents, letting your original self shine through.

What a joy that would be! What freedom!

Here is a little prayer for today:
Today, I ask that my higher self flow into me and cleanse away all fear and doubt. I invite my higher self to be present consciously within me, filling me with my own truth and being
Today, I ask that I may find the courage to be myself. I ask that I may reach into myself, discover my unique talents and abilities there and then bring them out for full expression.
Today, I ask that I may find the way to shine.
I am creative. I am unique in all the world. I am powerful and bright and I can shine out with the wonder and glory that I truly am.

I am full of creativity and power. I am.

The Spiritual Impulse

by Andrew Cohen -

Why do some of us seek for higher truths? Why is it that certain individuals are driven blindly, madly, and passionately to transcend their own limitations?

Why do we, at times, feel ourselves being compelled to improve ourselves, not only for our own sake but for the sake of a higher cause that we sense yet can barely see?

Why is it that in those precious moments when we are most conscious and most awake, we seem to intuit a deeper sense of purpose that is infinitely bigger than our personal worlds could contain?

What is that soft vibration that tugs on our hearts and beckons us to courageously leap beyond the small confines of the separate self so that we can participate in the life-process in a much deeper and more authentic way?

That vibration is none other than the spiritual impulse, which is the impulse to evolve at the level of consciousness.

I believe it is that very same impulse that caused something to come from nothing fourteen billion years ago, that compelled an entire material universe to miraculously emerge from complete emptiness.

To me, at least, it seems that there is no doubt that a great and mysterious energy and intelligence with enormous power is driving this entire evolutionary process forward in every moment.

Our own direct personal experience of spiritual inspiration is the most tangible expression of that very same drive.

Living in Harmony

Do you think about living in harmony?

What does harmony mean to you? Everything in the world that we know both within us and outside of us is perfectly balanced.

"Every action has an equal and opposite reaction" as Issac Newton told us many years ago. Newton was talking about the physical world and his description is the law of motion but I believe this statement is goes much deeper then he ever intended.

I always look to nature. I think above everything else in my life my connection to nature has been the most consistent. I don't claim to be a naturalist, I just love to observe the way nature works.

The harmony in nature is very apparent if we allow it to be. Animals control their numbers depending on the resources available or they are culled to an acceptable level by predators.

We use to have a great connection with the earth and the creatures that live on it. Unfortunately through the industrial age we have begun to lose that connection. The earth is in disarray but I believe it will self-correct and return to a state of harmony.

In our lives harmony is just as important as it is in nature.

When we live outside of the flow of life, we don't feel quite right. We become ill or depressed because the natural cycle of our life has been interrupted. Rediscovering the harmony in your life isn't difficult, it only takes time and an open mind.

Each of us should strive to only take what we give. We should take time to listen to the natural flow of our life. We should discover the joy of living in perfect harmony.

I believe we all have a life's purpose and God/universe guides us along the path of life to lead us to this life's purpose.

Sometimes we take a wrong turn but I believe that God/universe gently tries to nudge us back on course. Sometimes we get so lost the and path back to our life's purpose can take us our entire lifetime.

We become lost in our life because we've stopped listening and allow the EGO to take over. The EGO isn't interested in harmony, it only wants more and more and more. It's thirst can never be quenched.

Allow the harmony to return to your life. If we each learn to live in harmony within ourselves the world will be a better place. Life is to short to be disconnected from your true source.

Open your heart and listen to the natural flow of everything within and without yourself. Be in harmony and discover more joy in every moment.

The Direction of Your Thoughts

by Gloria Wendroff -

In order for you to think differently, you have to think differently. Change your thinking and see what else changes. Changing your thinking means to look at what occurs in life in another way from what you have been accustomed to.

In other words, let go, release, upend a view of life that you have held dear.

Sometimes, only sometimes, the more you protest, the more that arises for you to protest. It is as if you have called its name and it comes over to you. Your resolve not to have something you do not want is so strong that you call it to you, and it answers. I am not saying you are cause.

I am saying that whatever befalls, no matter how innocent you are, it is your responsibility now.

Consider viewing thoughts about unlikable situations as travelers in a storm. Take them in for a while and then bid them goodbye. Don't keep them around. They are not to live with you forever. Nor must your thoughts about them continue.

When a rattling window in a storm bothers you, you simply get up and ease the window. There was a storm, but you did not talk up a storm about it, for then you would have relived and supported the rattling of the window.

All of the errors and anxiety you hold to you are rattling windows.

Take steps in life towards what you desire.

Leave the undesired behind. It is already behind you. Don't bring it forward. It is not beneficial to stew in it. Bemoaning is stewing. Acknowledge and then move on.

This includes moods, those wavering things that seem to overtake you. Now, you overtake them. You are not meant to bob up and down in life according to your moods.

Consider moods strangers who visit you.

They are only visitors. You need not live your life according to them. Keep your eye on what you desire, and moods will fall by the wayside. Moods too come because of how you have been thinking.

It may seem to you that moods descend upon you, perhaps like vultures but moods are nothing at all but moods. And moods are passing things. Let them pass. You can, despite what you think, choose your mood. You do, in fact, choose your mood. Your accumulated thinking made a choice for you. Do you doubt what I say?

You think a dark mood changes because good news arrives. You think a happy mood changes because dark news arrives. One day spotty news will not be the helm that steers your life.

You will stay on course regardless of the passing news. You will be moodless. You will be even. You will be Oneness, in joy or in sorrow.

When a mood of less than happiness seems to overtake you, then find something to be happy about. Strike the right chord. Play a higher note. If you are in the doldrums, get out of them. Truly, your thoughts put you there. Your thoughts kept you there.

Now your thoughts will release you just as well.

If you are going to think thoughts, choose which ones to think. Think of what you are thinking.

Thoughts are only thoughts.

You can have thoughts like biting gnats and you can have thoughts like butterfly wings. The thought process is the same. But gnats are annoying and pull you down. Butterflies are pleasing and lift you up. Engage your thoughts in what you would like to be engaged in. How simple!

Your thoughts are like your nose. Your nose faces the world. Your nose goes first and you follow in the direction of your nose. You can point your nose in another direction.

The same way, you can alter your thoughts.
