Self Mastery Metamorphosis

by Rebecca E Skeele -

Did you play on a see-saw as a child? Growing up, my little brother and I spent hours pushing each other up and down on this playground apparatus.

Our game went like this… We would take turns holding each other up in the air while one of us weighted the board down in the dirt – until that got boring; or we would see if we could hold the see-saw still and balance each other- until that got boring; or we would just see-saw up and down – until that got boring.

It never failed – the see-saw, like the swings and the merry-go-round in our neighborhood park, got boring pretty quickly.

No matter how ‘differently’ we tried to get it to behave, or how creative we were with our imagination, the see-saw just went up and down. It was true to its nature. It performed exactly like it was designed to perform.
We have a part of us that operates much the same way as that see-saw. It’s called the ‘human nature’ and its job is to maintain the status quo – the existing state of affairs.

This is all fine and dandy until one day we wake up and decide that the habitual ‘state of affairs’ is boring and limiting. AND because we forgot when and how we originally created our status quo (those choices went unconscious years ago) we are lost as to how to create something new and different in our lives.
Examples of the status quo
If, in the area of your life called finances, you are conditioned through limiting beliefs for your cash flow to see-saw up and down – that’s what your cash flow will do. One month/year you will have surplus and the next month/year you will not have enough.
Or in relationships, if habitual emotional responses have you always going in circles – then your relationships will feel like a merry-go-round. Each time you enter into a new relationship you will vow not to repeat the same ‘mistakes’ of the past, but before long the challenges feel too familiar.
Or what about swinging back and forth from too much worrying, stress, ‘what ifs’ to negative self-talk of too much or not enough?

This drama/trauma takes the peace and joy out of every day life because you are always waiting for the other ‘shoe to drop.’ Feel familiar? I refer to this constant drama/trauma playground behavior as the ‘status quo’.
Who decides what the ‘status quo’ is in our lives?

WE DO, at a pretty young age. We decide, based on our experiences as a child, what is right and what is wrong. We choose our beliefs, our perceptions and our values and then uphold those choices with our thoughts and feelings.

We create a world view in which all is controllable, knowable and makes sense to our human nature. And even more important, these habitual emotions, thoughts, beliefs, conditioning and perceptions keep us feeling safe and secure.
But what if I no longer want to have feast or famine in my finances; or the same old relationship issues? What if I want more peace, joy, happiness and success in my life?
Can I change the status quo?

The short answer is ‘yes’. The longer answer is a process of uncovering and discovering the beliefs that are fueling your perceptions, learn new skills of self-mastery to access an expanded playing field and choose to play a different game.

Think about the default setting on your computer. Until you consciously change the settings that came with your computer you get what the manufacturer set.

Our consciousness works similarly.

Unless you consciously set another default setting for what you want/desire – like an expansive dream, wealth, health and happiness; or a new approach in relationships with spouse/family/friends-and then do what it takes to rewire, realign and redirect the levels that are involved – you will not operate beyond the default playground of your life.

In other words, the default agenda of your human nature will continually override any positive affirmation to change, desire to change or attempt to change.
Sound hopeless? Well, it’s not.

Because you are much more than your human reactive nature.

Beyond the drama/trauma playground lies a greater reality. I call it thecocreation playing field. The status quo here is growth, expansion and revelation. There are no rides that make you dizzy from self-sabotaging behavior ad nausea.
Soul – your divinity is in charge of this playing field and every moment can potentially be full of fresh, new awareness.

To access this new playing field of being, seeing, acting and thinking I have given the process a name: becoming a spiritual scientist.

A spiritual scientist: one who observes through the eyes of the soul how to work masterfully with the human reactive nature, apply the learning to their life and cocreate heaven on earth.
Is it fun? Or is it hard work?

Depends on how you approach the process. If you see every new choice as moving you from struggle, guilt, stress, fear and disappointment into peace, joy, expansion, fulfillment and loving, the part of you that was ‘playing it safe’ now experiences a new reference point for security and safety.

Excitement replaces trepidation and grace is present in every step.
The metamorphosis process of the caterpillar into a butterfly has a very interesting stage.

In its chrysalis stage the ‘imaginary cells’ of the butterfly template are already present. But the chrysalis, thinking that the imaginary cells are foreign tries to destroy the cells.

However, because these cells are what the chrysalis must become, the process is not sabotaged. The power within those imaginary cells are greater than the knee jerk reaction to destroy them.
You have within you the ‘blue print cells’ of another way to live life… and the power of your divine self that can not be sabotaged.

Every time, through practice, you move beyond judgment, shame or blame and open to compassion, acceptance and forgiveness the power within grows stronger.

Then, magically, when the process is complete, what has always been present but hidden within, emerges. You then become who you truly are: radiant, whole, healed, empowered and alive with joy!

My Inner Toolbox

by Rebecca Skeele -

Because I choose to be a carrier of peace I practice the presence of peace daily.

My inner toolbox includes self-acceptance, observation, compassion, self- forgiveness and loving kindness. If I am quick to respond irritably to a phone call, I take a deep breath, step back and observe my reaction. Then I might accept that a part of me is in disturbance.

Reminding myself that everything outside is really taking place inside, I begin my investigation with compassion for myself. If my disturbance is a judgment I forgive myself for that judgment knowing that self-forgiveness opens up my heart to see with new eyes.

If fear has crept into the background of my day, I choose loving-kindness to comfort my upset and ask for truth. When I practice liberating myself from everyday stresses, global concerns become opportunities for greater and greater mastery.

PEACE SHARING

The following list is suggested for your consideration:
1. When you read the morning paper, read with the eyes of your soul. Send light, compassion, loving-kindness or a “God bless you, Peace be still” instead of upset, worry or negativity.
2. Place the world leaders that you have an issue with on your altar. During your daily meditation, prayers and spiritual exercises send your light/love/compassion/good thoughts to them. Begin to look for a growth opportunity to accept a disagreement rather than judging it.
3. Visualize places of terror, war, destruction and killing filled with light. Send light frequently when listening to the radio or watching the evening news. Practice seeing through the eyes of the inner Master – with great compassion and loving for all.
4. Closer to home, take inventory of your own place of inner war, devastation or terror. Make a commitment to weed out those limiting fears and beliefs that create destruction in your everyday relationships and career. If you choose to carry peace then use the daily practice to liberate and strengthen your mastery of your SELF…even waiting in the grocery store checkout line.
Peace-sharing, no matter how it unfolds, reveals what we have been searching for all along: our magnificence and the ability to improve our life, our neighbors and help build a peaceful world. Turning away from the headlines for a moment to reestablish our intention and calm, becomes a sacred responsibility.

As the French novelist Marcel Proust so wisely observed,
“The voyage of discovery lies not in finding new landscapes but in having new eyes.”
These are eyes that see beyond illusions forged by a limited understanding of who we are—eyes that see beyond the dots, eyes that see as God sees.

Your Master Consciousness

by Rebecca Skeele -

It is said that while sculpting David, Michelangelo chipped away everything that 'wasn't David.' Something in the slab of marble that was to become David illuminated a form so vividly that with each chisel stroke, the master sculptor was able to bring it into expression.

In collaborating closely with your divine nature you, like David, become gently molded and fashioned into who you really are.

Some people undergoing this sculpting process feel as if unseen hands are lovingly peeling away defenses that no longer serve them. Others remark that they are no longer preoccupied with the struggle of their soul to extricate itself from beneath a heavy boulder. A fisherman once told me that when he started following the calls of his heart, 'barnacles' affixed to him decades before began falling away.

Cooperating with this process causes you to light up, lighten up and begin to see yourself and in time others, as you are seen - perfect, complete and good.

You can feel this happening each time you choose to expand rather than contract, to love rather than fear and to forgive rather than condemn. All the while, your master consciousness is hard at work and with every wedge of conditioning it chips away, you come to see this master sculptor as yourself - the spark of the divine within.

Ways to participate fully in the process:
  • Have a conversation with your divinity wherever you feel at ease speaking intimately: outdoors in nature, over a canvas or set of paints, in the bath, by a roaring fire, journaling, in prayer, meditation or contemplation.
  • Let this indwelling source of wisdom know you'd like its help in seeing more clearly and in using your energy more impeccably.
  • Listen closely for guidance, trusting that it may not come immediately. Be open to the unexpected messenger.
  • Give your master consciousness free reign over an aspect of your life, letting go of your urge to control.
  • Check in often - perhaps once a day, for renewal and refocusing your attention and intention.
Be prepared for paradoxes. In seeing more you will know less. Statements of certainty will give way to uncertainty. The more you admit you DON'T know the more that will be revealed.

Ultimately, a high state of cooperation with your divinity requires you to be in the mystery. It's not necessary to know what will happen before you leap or where the bend in the road leads; you'll find these things out soon enough.

Just remain, collaborative, loving, respons-able, and brimming with childlike wonder - for then you will be and see anew from one moment to the next.

Answering a Soul Call

by Rebecca Skeele, MA, MSS -

Is life challenging you to take a bigger leap? Are you restless with the status quo of your daily routine? Do you feel you are flying blind with an invisible co-pilot?

Often times, the soul calls to us in the midst of a crises or two-by-four. When pieces of your heart are all over the floor there's a quickening that seems to come from the beyond.

In those moments it's difficult to pull our attention away from the hurt, fear or disappointment. Our mind searches for how to clean up the mess - not what is the greater learning. The heart feels raw - not ready to expand.

You might be experiencing a soul call!

"Ah," says the heart. "I've been waiting for this. But there's static on the line." Learning how to shift frequencies and tune in to the soul channels requires us to get quiet, get present and get out of the way.

TUNING IN TO THE SOUL
Get Quiet

Soul speaks through stillness. Finding a quiet time to go within, silence the monkey mind through breathing or chanting allows the body to settle and relax. Then we hear the deep stirrings of the sound that quickens the heart.

Soul listening is tuning in. When we dial in the frequency a profound peace and well-being floods our body.

Operating from an inner place of peace, rather than fear or anxiety, permeates the space in which we move and have our being.

Soul time is expansive, not hurried or driven. A client remarked the other day, " I always thought my stress came from having too much to do and an inability to say 'no'.

Now I realize that if I continually see with my soul eye's there's plenty of time. I am content. There's not a lot of wasted energy and time spent in worry, or anxiety about doing it right. AND I get so much more done. "

Get Present

Turning inside away from the world and it's distractions feels foreign to your reactive human nature. "Won't life be boring?" your head asks.

Soul's agenda is learning, growth, expansion and revelation. Regrets about the past or worrying about the future takes energy and focus away from what is here - now.

All "channels" to and from the divine must be cleared of obstructions. A channel can be anything that serves to receive inspiring thoughts, intuitive hunches, body sensations, heart openings or light "Pay Attention" taps on the shoulder.

The most common distortions are caused by old beliefs about our 'story'. Because the human nature's job is to maintain the status quo of 'what has come before' it can kick up quite a bit of doubt and confusion.

Compassion, acceptance, loving and patience (all attributes of the soul) equip the cocreator when old conditioning reminds you of past mistakes, the cost of not being right or in control, and fear of failure.

Get Out of the Way

Messages from the Soul provide direction and reassurance. Many times the message is to do nothing. Asking for and living the highest good reminds me that spirit's timing can test the best of intentions to stay patient.

Getting limiting actions, beliefs and fears out of the way brings in new discoveries about the nature of God.
1. The highest good teaches me about God. It's like saying, "God, this is yours. I don’t' have any idea what needs to happen here really.
I know what I would like, but I don't see the bigger picture. You do. So I'm letting and allowing you to show me the revelation so I can grow in my understanding of you. "
2. The highest good invites me to stay neutral and impersonal.
As a Spiritual scientist I can let go of a desired outcome saying, "I wonder how God is going to work this one out?" or "OK God, do your stuff. I am looking forward to seeing the highest good in this situation. "

Imagine

Imagine a world in which relationships are woven of heavens instead of hells? Imagine a planet of people so committed to inner growth and expansiveness that no one would be allowed to go hungry or homeless? Impossible, you say? Idealistic?

To the soul, who lives in limitlessness and knows your magnificence, the answers to these dilemmas are already present. Ask today to see with those eyes and respond to the call. All will be blessed.
