The Auric Field

by Cyndi Dale -

The First Line of Energetic Defense:

The best known energy organ is the auric field. The aura can be visualized as a complex layer of energy bodies that surround your entire physical body.

Each auric layer, numbering twelve in all, is like a layer of saran wrap that has a different physical, emotional, mental and spiritual purpose.

All auric layers set boundaries, screen energetic data and regulate your relationship with the outside world.

The aura is more than fantasy. Artists and other sensitive people have long seen auras, usually as bands of color around a person or other animate being

Sensitives who can see the aura usually describe multiple energetic layers, each with a different color or pattern.

I, as well as many others, perceive at least twelve such auric layers around the human body.

Each of these layers performs several vital functions, one of which is to screen different types of energetic information. For instance, one of the auric layers filters emotional data.

Based upon conscious, unconscious and subconscious programming, this second auric field energetically decides what feelings to allow into your body and which feelings to send into the world. Feelings, like all aspects of life, are frequencies.

Sadness vibrates at a different rate than does anger or fear. If you are programmed to perceive fear but ignore anger, you can psychically read when someone is scared but not necessarily pick up on someone else’s anger.

Each auric layer is in charge of certain frequencies or information-energy packets.

The various layers filter everything from physical sensations to intellectual understandings to others’ spiritual beliefs.

When all systems are up and functioning, it’s like having an force field protecting you.

Good auric boundaries will also assure that you don’t “tip off” intruders, accidentally informing other people of your plans or moves.

What Is Vibrational Healing?

by Mary Kurus -

Vibrational healing is the way of the future. I truly believe that technological advances will soon provide the means which will allow scientific testing to validate the effects of these natural essences.

Vibrational healing is a process whereby vibrations are introduced or transferred into a human being’s physical and energetic bodies, so that the vibrations which have become unbalanced in the human physical or auric body are adjusted.

This is based on the idea that illness or disease in the human and auric body is characterized by blockages and imbalances.

These blockages and imbalances causes a cell, organ, system, or energetic body to slow it's vibration. Slow vibrations result in disease (dis-ease) or illness. The process of vibrational healing adjusts these unbalanced vibrations.

To be healthy, an individual needs to have a high rate of vibration in their physical and auric bodies.

This vibration is nourished in many ways including what we think, feel, believe, see, hear, smell, touch, eat, drink, breathe, and are exposed to.

As an individual becomes ill their rate of vibration lowers. As the rate of vibration lowers the individual becomes more susceptible to other negative energies and invaders and the cycle of poor health becomes self-perpetuating.

Many internal developments affect the rate of vibration of a human body. Each cell, organ and system has its own vibration.

Each emotion that one feels, creates a separate vibration in the human body; each thought we have creates a unique vibration; each color has its own vibration; every sound carries its own vibration; each smell has its own vibration.

Many external factors affect the vibration of the human body.

We are bombarded with electromagnetic frequencies that can influence the vibrational rate of our physical and etheric bodies.

Each household appliance, television set, cell phone, microwave oven is sending out these vibrations. Mother Earth is surrounded by various electromagnetic grids that can also affect our vibrations.

Underground water can also disrupt the healthy vibration of the human system. And finally, there are many entities which can rest in our auras, homes and offices which can seriously affect our rates of vibration.

The following provides a more detailed description of what can affect our vibrations and a brief look at different types of vibrational healing.

The relationship between the body, emotions, mind and spirit is not always with us. The additional mystery of the relationship of Mother Earth and the broader Universe is also never ending.

It’s quite fascinating to realize that the human body is able to automatically balance the complex world of internal and external vibrations and find its own equilibrium.

Illness occurs when our vibrations become unbalanced and this equilibrium is disturbed.

Different Types of Vibrational Healing

Vibrational healing has been used for thousands of years in ancient civilizations.

Egypt is said to have used sound and color for healing and that many of their healing centers had special rooms devoted only to healing with color and sound.

The Chinese have used acupuncture, another form of vibrational healing, for centuries.

In the United States today, acupuncture is becoming a much more common method for dealing with illness. Reiki, another form of vibrational healing is being practiced by many energy practitioners in North America and Europe today.

Homeopathy is another form of vibrational healing. This uses the principle of "like cures like" and introduces minute amounts of certain substances at varying energy levels to activate the healing vital force of the human body.

A simple form of hands on healing is another form of vibrational healing. An individual places their hands so that their vibration which is stronger, is transferred into an individual who has been weakened or fatigued. There are many other examples of vibrational healing which work effectively.

What is Different Today from 25 Years Ago

The living environment in the year 2000 is very different from the environment in the 1930s.

One only has to look at the chemicals, metals, parasites worms viruses infectious bacteria and fungus that humans are exposed to on a daily basis to begin to understand some of these differences.

This exposure is caused by many factors: the world grows, processes and handles foods for distribution without all the necessary safeguards; the water is often polluted; many chemicals are used to grow and preserve the food we eat; people are traveling to far distant places, exposing themselves to various types of invaders for which their bodies do not have immunity.

Many of the vibrational healing processes and medical methods used to date are not able to drain off or to detoxify and cleanse the human cells, organs and systems of the many toxins and invaders which are causing these health problems. And the human body and aura does accumulate many of these invaders and toxins.

In addition, humans have abdicated responsibility for their health to the medical profession.

They have not looked carefully to learn how to support their personal health and to accept full responsibility for their health.

The health care systems and Medicare programs are critical to all individuals everywhere. However, in parallel, each individual needs to look at personal responsibility for their own personal health.

Flower, Tree and Gem Essences

Flower, tree and gem essences are a very powerful form of vibrational healing. In the 1930s Dr. Edward Bach pioneered the development of flower essences.

He created 38 different essences to adjust emotional and mental imbalances since he believed that these would directly or indirectly affect all types of illness. This was based on the premise that all illness is created by emotions.

Today many have expanded the work of Dr. Bach to accommodate the needs of the 21st century.

An essence is simply the energetic imprint of a flower, tree leaf or gem or crystal which has been transferred into water.

This vibration is normally sealed in the water with some alcohol. There are many different ways of making essences. Gurudas in his book called "Gem Elixirs and Vibrational Healing" provides us with a basic methodology.

Mary Kurus makes flower, tree and gem essences, called Choming Essences, shamanically. This means that these essences have amazing healing powers from the Universe, including the sun, moon, stars and many other energies from the broader 'Universe'.

The personal energy vibration of the individual making the essence can seriously affect the healing power of the essence, enhancing it or reducing its ability to adjust vibrations. Choming Essences are all made by me personally to ensure they have the vibration which is specified.

Today, there are many types of flower, tree and gem essences which can meet the complex needs of living in today's world. Many essences can detoxify the cells, organs and systems. They can release blockages in the chakras and aura.

They can literally change how you look at the world. They can set up a vibration that parasites, worms and viruses cannot live in. They can adjust many modern day emotional states including stress and depression. They can provide support while experiencing special times of emotional upheaval including grieving many losses.

Flower, tree and gem essences can provide support to other modalities of healing. How many individuals in therapy have heard that they are stuck and are unable to move forward. Essences can energetically help someone identify and unblock their emotions providing a powerful support to therapy.

How to Select an Essence

There are many ways to choose an essence that are appropriate at any time.

Using a pendulum or dowsing allows your energetic body to tell you which essence or combination of essences you need.

The Vibrational Assessment identified in this web site uses dowsing to identify the imbalances and a program of essences.

The traditional approach is still an appropriate and effective way to identify the essence you need. You read the description of the essence and match it up to the difficulties you wish to address.

Choming Essences are divided into subgroups to help an individual identify the area of difficulty and then match the symptoms with the essence.

The groupings in Choming Natural Essences are as follows:
  • Change and Transformation
  • Cleansing and Detoxification
  • Depression
  • Emotional Healing
  • Females, Males and Yin/Yang
  • Grounding
  • Healing For The Mind
  • Physical healing
  • Psychic Strengthening and Connecting
  • Relationships
  • Spirituality and Healing
  • Stress
If you have a favorite flower, gem or tree or are regularly attracted to a particular flower or gem or tree, it is more than likely that an essence of this natural organism will be very effective in your personal healing.

This is often the way that our subconscious works to communicate our needs to a more conscious level.

Kinesiology is another way of asking your energetic body to identify which essence is required at that specific time.

Intuition is also a very powerful method in choosing essences. At times there is just a "knowing" in a person and they feel strongly that they need to take a specific essence. It's important to respect and nurture selection through intuition.

The homeopathic method is being used to help identify the most appropriate essence.

This involves the process of proving each essence and identifying symptoms experienced by the "provers". These symptoms are then matched to the individuals symptoms to select the most appropriate essence.

Channeling Healing Energy

by Toni Silvano -

Past traumas, emotional hurts and physical dis-ease can lead to the fragmentation of the spirit.

Every time we experience pain, whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual our energy field becomes disrupted. We lose a piece of our soul with each hurt.

Left untreated, these lost fragments of our soul exist outside of our being, thus our spirit is fragmented. We are not whole although we may appear whole to those we encounter along the way.

Jeffrey Conley / Getty Images

When we meet someone for the first time, we usually cannot see their flaws. These flaws or fragmented spirits become apparent over time as the relationship continues. Flaws are not bad, we all have them.

I feel that anyone over the age of five has had some kind of hurt in their lives. It is a huge part of the human experience and nothing to be ashamed of.

These fragments exist in our energy, or auric fields. New Age hands-on healing can help bring these pieces of the spirit back into the being. The concept is a simple one:

If this energy field is healthy and free of fragments, the living person will exhibit good health in all its physical, emotional and spiritual aspects. Harmony will be a part of this person's life.

However, oftentimes dysfunctional energy patterns are present in the energy field. Believe me, this occurs more often than not!

Universal Life Energy

Everything that exists is permeated by a Universal energy that connects and nourishes all of life.

This energy has been called by many different names, such as chi and prana.

This is the energy that integrally supports the life process in all its aspects, the material operations of the physical self, the functions and emotions of the mind, and our spiritual selves.

The energy in this field is not lifeless or inert, rather it is active and intelligent. It can be considered a manifestation of the Universal consciousness that is the source of each of us and the entire universe.

This is the energy that connects us to each other, the realm of pure consciousness, the spiritual source of life made manifest in the physical realm.

One way to view this energy is to see it as a bridge between the realm of pure spirit and the manifested material world.

When the flow of energy in the energy or auric field becomes blocked or fragmented, it prevents the living person from achieving harmony and the pure connection to a higher spiritual reality, which in turn prevents the full and healthy expression of the living potential.

Energy Field Healing

Energy field healing is the art of correcting defects in the energy field.

This entails primarily dealing with the core issues that enabled the fragmentation in the first place.

In energy field healing the healer seeks to restore the flow of energy to its original strong, healthy and natural state by correcting and calling back the fragmented parts of the spirit. In other words, clearing the aura and making it whole.

By healing the energy field, the healer is ultimately healing the dis-ease which has manifested in the physical, emotional, or spiritual body. Even if dis-ease is not present, energy field healing will enhance overall health.

The ability to channel healing energy exists in each and every one of us because it comes from God, the All There Is.

There are many forms of hands-on energy healing being taught throughout the world today. Usually this is passed on through attunements from master to student. We as healers, are simply channels for the healing energy of God.

How to Mentally Clean your Auras

by Lynn Claridge -

How to remove the stresses and strains that everyday life can bring.

There are 7 layers in our auras. When we use meditation and try to 'clean' it, we have to clean every layer. Many new age mystics just tell you imagine and visualize a white light coming down and engulfing your auras, this sometimes doesn't work well. I usually clean every layer as I go along.

To Mentally Clean your Auras start by doing some kind of relaxation procedure like counting 1 to 10 or say to yourself, upstairs, downstairs, over and over again until you feel bored and sleepy or you can get some relaxation music to help you get to alpha or theta brain states.

Once you done that, mentally say to yourself and quote; 'I am at level 1' and move your awareness from head to toe or vice versa, the idea is to scan your level 1 for blockages, once you sense 'something there' move your awareness to it, it should 'melt' or disperse.

If it is still there, try breathing it colors, you have to experiment with the color that will remove the block, repeat the same procedure with all other level, e.g. I am level 2, I am in Level 3...

When you say this, you are telling your mind to adjust to the next level using intent; Intent is the force that changes the level. Sometimes if you are at level 1, and you sense something 1 feel in front of you and you cannot get it off, and you try the usual color breathing method, This could be due to the fact that this blockage is actually at some other level e.g. Level 3 and you can usually remove the block if you move your awareness to level 3.

Sometimes when you move your awareness into the blockages, you get 'impression' like a past event or sometimes it plays like a movie in your mind's eye; this is usually the reason for the block.

The stresses and strains of everyday life can bring with it a variety of emotional health problems. These can include depression, anxiety, insomnia, irritability and panic attacks.

Potential problems and suggested solutions to overcome them

Depression

I am sure that we all become depressed at different times of our life, I certainly do. It is easy to let things and people get us down. We can start to feel sorry for ourselves and to think that the world is working against us.

The brain has two halves, positive and negative. In these periods of depression the negative side assumes control and it can become very hard to get out of this rut.

I see the positive side of my brain as an apple and the negative side as a pear. If I only ever eat pears, I will not be able to experience the joy of eating apples. In short I have to give the positive side a chance to help me to reach a state of happiness and I need to learn to ignore the negative.

Anxiety and panic attacks

At times people start becoming anxious about their future or even about their present situation. This can in certain cases even lead on to panic attacks.

In my opinion worrying does not help the situation, it only makes things worse. I have to say that I do worry and that the cloud of doom does descend over my life at regular intervals. When this occurs I try very hard to break the cycle and I even talk to the demons in my head. I have a battle of wills with them. I tell them that they will not win and that I will not stress anymore. This is not that simple but is what I try to do.

Insomnia

Having trouble with sleeping at night can happen for a number of reasons, the main one of which is stress. Other causes are snoring, an intake of too much caffeine, a noisy environment or depression.

I have written about stress and depression already, it is also time to cut down on the coffee. A simple suggestion in potentially solving insomnia, is to read a book in bed before attempting to get to sleep. This book should help you to get your mind away from any anxieties you may have, it should relax your body and should also tire your eyes.

Irritability

When people lose sleep or work to hard they can become over tired and this can lead to irritability. This can cause people to have a higher pulse rate, making their muscles feel tight and can leave people also feeling anxious and lethargic.

It is important to therefore ensure that you obtain a good amount of hours sleep per night (at least seven) and that you only work a certain amount of hours per week. Money is important to people, however in my opinion health should be the priority.

Solutions to these emotional health problems

I have come to realize that I need to treat myself from time to time. I have always found it difficult to relax and would often feel stressed and under pressure.

I now use various methods at different times of the year to help me to chill out a bit and to reward my body. These include aroma therapy, using herbal products, attending tai chi lessons and I have even tried Yoga. I must admit I could never get to grips with Yoga, however have heard it can prove to be very beneficial to people who can.

Meditation

My favorite form of relaxation is by meditating. I do this by sitting on a straight back chair and by basically concentrating with my eyes closed. I pay particular notice to my breathing and it has certainly helped me to see things in a much clearer way.

In conclusion there are many ways of reducing emotional health problems and with determination you are able to see your way to a better and brighter future. Keep your auras clean and you will have a better healthy life.

Spiritual Psychology of the Chakras

The Window to the Soul:

by Grace Ross -

Chakras, auras, subtle bodies and energy healing have become common topics of discussion.

What once was considered esoteric or fringe spirituality has become increasingly mainstream. In line with this more people are developing a new awareness of their own body energy – some from a desire for inner growth, others from a scientific (quantum physics) perspective and still others from a renewed sense of the sacred.

Much of the language and teaching about energy is not new.

Throughout the ages many cultures have described energetic connections between the mind, body and spirit.

Chinese medicine relies on energy meridians that correspond to psycho-physiological states.

Vedic scholars, centuries ago described the seven energy centres of the body (chakras) from a spiritual context.

It is interesting to note that the qualities, attributes and characteristics of the chakras have continued to be described with often surprising coherence among widely differing cultures and religious traditions over centuries of time.

More recently, esoteric philosopher/scientists such as Alice Bailey, Anodea Judith and Carolyn Myss have sparked a renewed interest in the physical, psychological and spiritual interaction of the chakras.

They describe the chakras as having not only physical landmarks, nerve meridians and specific endocrine glands associated with them, but also unique psychological attributes, emotional issues and spiritual qualities.

To some degree, most people already have an intuitive, culturally defined sense of the spiritual psychology of the chakras.

Visual artists, for instance paint “halos” of energy to represent the crown chakras of spiritual teachers or mystical individuals.

  • We are familiar with euphemisms that tend to locate energy in particular areas of the body.
  • We speak of having a “broken heart” and feel actual pain in the chest when we lose someone we love (heart chakra).
  • We criticize others for being “unrooted” or “pulling the rug out from under us” (root chakra).
  • When a situation threatens our self-confidence we feel “butterflies in our stomach” (solar plexus chakra) and
  • get a “lump in our throat” when grief remains unexpressed (throat chakra).

Scientists are now confirming these intuitive sensations from the perspective of quantum physics.

They are able to measure the presence and speed of energetic vibrations within the DNA - the very vibrations that we intuitively sense as our chakras and that clairvoyants “read” when they scan the human energy field.

Energy healers and medical intuitives believe that if one can manipulate these energies and somehow change their frequency or patterning it is possible that physical, emotional and spiritual healing effects might be observed.

For those who can clairvoyantly “see” energy, disease, distress and physical or emotional pain may show up as blockages, disruptions or cloudiness in the normal patterns of the chakra.

Those who do energy healing can help pinpoint and identify these disruptions and train their clients to do the same. By developing an inner awareness of the chakras it is possible to begin a process that includes transforming and reconfiguring these energies.

Additionally, by increasing awareness of the spiritual psychology of the chakras it is possible to help achieve a more balanced, energized and meaningful life.

What follows is a brief description of each of the chakras from the perspective of spiritual psychology.

Root Chakra
(located at the base of the spine)

At birth, we experience an acute sense of disorientation and disconnection. Not only are we cut off from the physical security of the womb, but existentially we experience separation from Spirit as we find ourselves embodied in a human form.

As the umbilical cord is cut we find ourselves thrust into a dangerous, insecure and vulnerable world.

Our human incarnation means we have a dense, sensate, physical body made up of carbon and hydrogen - the constituent elements of the earth.

In our attempt to re-establish a sense of spiritual connection, the root chakra becomes activated at birth - a connection that flows downward, and energetically connects deeply with the “sacred matter” of the earth. We cannot survive if we do not feed and nurture the physical body - making our relationship with the earth both necessary and integral to our survival.

Part of that survival means also that we belong to a family or clan - a group that can ensure that we are fed from the earth and protected from the elements. Early cave dwellers soon learned that they could not survive without a sense of belonging and protection from the family or “clan.”

If our early needs for security and belonging are not met, if disruption and fear are the norm, or if our connection to nature is tenuous, we end up feeling unrooted, anxious and insecure about our right to be here.

Psychological symptoms may surface - neuroses, chronic anxiety, fears of becoming ill or dying, feeling vulnerable, ungrounded and afraid of getting one’s hands dirty.

When root chakra issues arise, they can be addressed through compassionate self-healing techniques.

These include finding ways to reconnect to the earth - “rooting” in nature through walks, gardening or camping; honoring the sacred in the Earth - (Indigenous people have much to teach us here); caring for the earth through addressing litter and pollution; healing estrangement from family or friends or joining groups or associations that foster a sense of belonging and security.

The Sacral Chakra
(located at the base of the belly and sexual organs)

Having established a secure connection to physical reality, the next energetic challenge for the newborn arises in the second chakra - the centre of relationship energy.

The second chakra holds the energy of all relationships we encounter in our lives - the nurturing or rejection of our parents; the give and take of sibling rivalry; the devotion or betrayals of friendship; the intimacy and vulnerability of sexual attraction; and the ability to produce and nurture our own children.

If we do not learn to connect to others through emotional intimacy we remain alone, estranged or dissociated.

When our early needs for intimacy and love are thwarted through abandonment, abuse or neglect, we find it hard to trust and begin to doubt our ability to attract love or find passion and joy in life.

Second chakra issues include avoidance of emotional intimacy; accepting or perpetrating abuse in relationships; sexual dysfunction; parenting problems and a lack of life passion.

Healing the second chakra involves learning to recognize and respond to our wounded “inner child”; uncovering and healing painful memories of abuse or neglect; learning to forgive; and releasing blame and guilt.

It means gently finding the courage to open ourselves to emotional intimacy. Often a wise and trusted counselor or healer can facilitate this process. Developing self-compassion and self-nurturing is key.

The Solar Plexus
(located around the upper abdomen just under the rib cage)

Having established some success with relationships, the next psycho-spiritual challenge is to create a sense of self in relationship to the world in which we live.

The psycho/spiritual qualities of the solar plexus chakra include self-worth, self-esteem, mastery, empowerment, humility, self-control, and awareness of life meaning and purpose.

When our desire to develop a strong sense of ourselves is met with controlling, shaming, authoritarian or intentional ego-damaging behaviors we are left with a debilitated and wounded solar plexus chakra.

This manifests as a sense of unworthiness and guilt; lack of confidence and poor self-esteem; a feeling of being disempowered, victimized or lacking a sense of purpose. Conversely, in response to feeling deprived of power, we may ourselves resort to controlling, manipulative or tyrannical behaviors.

Healing the solar plexus comes about through restoring a sense of personal power, self-respect, courage, humility and grace.

Learning to identify and respond compassionately to our own painful stories is empowering, as is using love to heal fears.

Issues of guilt and shame can be transformed through healing work that nurtures a sense of innate goodness, while awareness of co-creatorship with the Divine instills a sense of power.

Finally, becoming aware of the deep spiritual qualities of our own nature helps us to act responsibly and move forward with self-initiative, meaning and purpose.

The Heart Chakra
(located in the chest)

As we come to experience ourselves as safe, connected and respected, the energy begins to shift from a focus on the individual self towards a more generous and altruistic outlook.

We notice that we feel grateful for the opportunity to live life, and want to give back. The heart chakra now becomes activated as the centre of love, compassion, devotion and generosity.

The direction of energy in the body begins to move upwards in its desire to reconnect to the greater source of Divine love. We begin to experience universal compassion - the sense that we are connected to all beings on the planet.

We may feel our hearts touched by images of young children a world away playing amongst the rubble of war. We know and have a sense of caring both for ourselves and others and feel compelled to take this love out into action.

If however, we have not experienced security, intimacy and self-esteem in the lower chakras, the heart chakra will remain closed and shielded.

Issues such as lack of compassion, anger, hatred, stinginess, being overly concerned with self protection, fear of loving too much, grief and heart-ache may all indicate wounding in the heart chakra.

Healing the heart chakra involves paying attention first to the wounds that are still lurking in the lower chakras.

Learning to love ourselves and our shadow places is the first step towards creating a sense of love and compassion for others. The gift of forgiveness allows deep healing within the heart chakra - forgiveness both for ourselves and others.

Visualisation, devotional chanting, yoga, prayers and Buddhist Metta or Tonglen meditation are powerful vehicles for opening the heart.

Many people find that compassionate encounters with the suffering of others is a means to open their own heart.

Important also is becoming aware of our own divine nature and beginning an intimate, sacred process of surrender to the Divine order.

The Throat Chakra
(located around the throat, mouth and ears)

As we grow into deeper awareness and opening of all the chakras, we also begin to expand our ability to tap into the vibrational energy field around us.

The patterns of sound are our connection to the world. The throat chakra is the centre for making sense of these vibrations, for communication, self-expression, creativity, speaking our truth, and at the subtlest levels, telepathy, channeling and clairaudience (ability to perceive sounds outside the physical realm).

If we encounter repression or attempts to stifle our innate ability for self-expression, the throat chakra closes down and energetically appears blocked.

The natural flow of vibration is impeded - energy goes in but cannot go out. We are all too familiar with the childhood maxim “children should be seen and not heard”, the silencing of women’s voices in patriarchal systems and the stifling of creative talent for fear of ridicule.

Other threats to the throat chakra include keeping shameful family secrets, living with chronic fear, being yelled at or shamed into silence. When the throat chakra is closed, all other chakras find their expression stifled too.

The key to healing the throat chakra is finding the place of our own truth and relearning the ability to express ourselves.

We can give ourselves permission to cry, to voice our fears, share our stories and engage in active listening with others.

We can honor self-expression through finding creative outlets - writing, art, gardening or music. For some people it is important to reduce the pollution of vibrational noise through meditation or silent retreat.

As the throat chakra begins to heal, the grosser vibrations of sound no longer create interference.

We begin to tune into more subtle layers of vibration, including the development of psychic abilities such as telepathy and clairaudience and opening to divine revelations such as those experienced by mystics through the ages.

The Third Eye
(located around the eyes, forehead and the brain)

The third eye is the center of intellect, inner knowing, discernment, wisdom, and clairvoyance (intuitive seeing).

It is the place where we develop our “witness consciousness”, the ability to stand back and consciously observe and make choices in our life.

This is the place where we create our beliefs and our judgments, and where, if we encounter fear-based or authoritarian belief systems, we come to doubt our own knowing and sense of ourselves.

Confusion, negative beliefs, blindness to the truth, irresponsibility, close-mindedness and mental rigidity result. We may feel cut off from our emotions and become overly attached to empirical, dogmatic theories and beliefs.

Healing the third eye means first of all a willingness to see. It includes opening to the truth beyond what we can physically see, and allowing intuition and inner knowing to become our primary teacher.

Healing includes accessing our fear-based belief systems, judgments and criticisms and being willing to let them go. It also means a gentle opening to the messages of the heart.

Self-healing techniques include developing inner awareness and witness consciousness; looking for the symbolic importance behind events or interactions; recording and analyzing dreams; practicing equanimity, detachment, and surrendering judgments.

As we become aware of the deep spiritual qualities of our own nature, we move into a place of greater clarity, wisdom and acceptance in the third eye.

The Crown Chakra
(located at the top of the head)

As we grow into deeper awareness of our spiritual nature, our energy is drawn increasingly upward in its desire to reconnect to the source of our Being.

This process of spiritual awakening or enlightenment is facilitated through opening the crown chakra. Energetically, an open crown chakra appears as light emerging from the top of the head.

The crown chakra indicates the extent to which we are willing to live our lives connected to Spirit and living from truth.

It allows for inspirational and prophetic thought, mystical connection and devotion, ecstasy, transcendence and liberation from identification with suffering.

When we are distracted or overwhelmed by the difficulties and pain of life, we may experience loss of faith in a compassionate Divine force.

Issues of doubt, disbelief and depression cloud our inner knowing and overshadow the belief that we are spirit beings. We falsely identify with the finite world and feel “existential angst”.

Some may experience a period known as the “dark night of the soul” immortalized by the poetry of St. John of the Cross. For some the sense of isolation and spiritual depression may seem unbearable.

Opening and healing the crown chakra involves trust, surrender to Divine love and commitment to spiritual practice.

It means living in the present, fully conscious and open to the experience that life offers. Mystics through the ages have turned to prayer, meditation, yoga and silent retreat to support their spiritual journeys. A trusted spiritual guide or teacher may offer compassionate facilitation along this path.

The chakras are an elegant window to the soul.

There is much we can learn through deepening our understanding of the qualities, attributes and spiritual nuances of these amazing vortexes of energy in the human body.

One Man's Wonder

Reclaiming Curiosity in a "Ho-hum" World:

From this increasingly sped-up, dumbed-down, 140-character world of quick, shallow experiences and relationships, a new generation of thinkers is emerging.

Yearning for substance, hungry for real, first-hand relationships with each other and with Nature, we are beginning to realize that very little of this occurs without our willingness to notice and appreciate things not readily apparent.

One Man's Wonder is about looking further, paying attention, making time for discovery, celebrating little things, and being open to wonder. Can we reclaim those qualities that illuminate our spiritual essence and make us truly human?
I wonder...

When you're in a crowd, do you ever find yourself fixating on just one of the many strangers you see? This happens to me all the time. I'm at a party, in a restaurant or watching a sporting event. There may be hundreds of people all around me but one of them, of all those anonymous beings, will just absolutely fascinate me.

Does who we are determine what we choose to see or does how we see actually change what is?

Just this morning I was having breakfast with a friend and pointed out a waitress who intrigued me. He didn't see it and asked me if it was some kind of sexual chemistry I was picking up on. No, it's not that, I explained but I do think it's about beauty, albeit seldom the kind you'd see on the surface.

Normally, you probably wouldn't look twice at most of these people. It's more like fleeting glimpses of something extraordinary I see shining through those otherwise ordinary façades. Most often, it's just a way of smiling, moving or interacting with other people. Sometimes I picture it as a sort of inner light that radiates from them.
  • There was a kid on my stepson's little league baseball team. He wasn't especially big nor good looking. But the way he moved to pick up a ground ball and throw it to first base was so natural, so pure, that I couldn't stop watching him. He had, at the age of ten, a degree of that intensity and self-assurance you see in some professional athletes—the Michael Jordans, the Derrick Jeters, the Roger Federers. I hoped he'd grow up using that charisma for good.
She had the refinement of old money but without the damage.
  • A 17 or 18-year-old girl who was sitting in front of me at a children's piano recital had an unusual radiance. I picked up on it even though I never saw more than the back of her head and an occasional profile. What was it, the way she encouraged her little brother—one of the performers? Or was it was how she looked at, and listened to, her parents, seated on either side of her. It struck me that she had the refinement of old money, but without the damage it so often inflicts. From those few impressions, I felt I could see the kind of life she would lead. And, while a bit disconcerting, I found that inkling, more than anything, reassuring.
  • I was on one of those "chicken buses" in rural Guerrero, Mexico. A heavy-set, plain-faced, 30-something woman got on at Los Achotes and sat across from me. Something about her just caught my eye. Maybe it was just the careful manner of her dress. But the more I looked—trying not to be too creepy—the more I could tell that her surface beauty went deep. I could see it in her posture and in her eyes. I'm sure this woman had experienced her share of the unrelenting challenges facing most poor Mexican women. It wasn't just that she wore that abrasion well; somehow she'd managed to gild it—she shone that brightly.
Impressions like these visit me almost every day. A skeptic might say they derive, not from the people I'm looking at but from some need I have to see them that way. But does it make any difference?

Does who we are determine what we choose to see, or does how we see actually change what is? Or could both be true? What do you think? I'd love to hear your comments!

Spiritual Energy Tools

by Gini Grey -

Have you ever walked into a room and felt the energy in it? Sensed and felt the silence and somberness of a library, the buzz and effervescence of a concert, or the love and joy at a wedding ceremony? In the 60’s and 70’s they called it the ‘vibe’ and now it’s referred to as energy, but it’s all the same thing; waves of energy particles that vibrate at certain frequencies.

It’s not just in the locations we enter; it’s within us as well.

We are each filled with energy which is affected by the foods we eat, thoughts we think and emotions we feel. The higher our bodies vibrate, the healthier we are. Therefore having uplifting thoughts and emotions supports our overall mood and health.

Notice how you feel when you focus on problems in your life or judgments of other people or situations. Now reflect on all the things you are grateful for in your life. Think of as many things as you can and notice how you feel. Those thoughts have their own vibrations which affect your body’s emotions which contribute to your overall flow of energy.

When your energy is flowing with ease and lightness everything within you matches that.

Imagine how healthy you would be living your life from this place. And because like attracts like, imagine how many wonderful things you would attract into your life from this energized state.

At our true essence as spiritual beings we are naturally in a state of ease, lightness and amusement. This gets clouded over by our analytical minds and emotional bodies. When we forget who we really are we let our analyzers run the show and allow our bodies to over react.

This can lead to complicated thoughts, judgments, and heavy emotions.

Yet when we reconnect to our true self and operate from this higher place of wisdom and neutrality, we can easily redirect our thoughts, clear our emotions and shift our energy. It’s amazing how quickly and easily we can do this when we are centered in our spiritual selves.

Experience this now by playing with the following spiritual energy tools.

SPIRITUAL ENERGY TOOLS

Centering:

Bring all of your awareness into the center of your head, back a couple of inches behind your forehead. Notice the still peaceful quality there. Now move all of your awareness into the front of your forehead. This is often where we are concentrated when thinking and planning. Losing ourselves in this space can feel busy and complicated. Move back to the center of your head and find yourself there.

By being in the center of our heads we are more aware of ourselves as spirit and can access our neutrality and truth. From this place we can choose to use our analyzers rather than letting them run us. We can also communicate with our bodies and be aware of our emotions rather than becoming them. Notice how you view yourself, others and life from this centered space.

Grounding:

Become aware of an energy connection between your body and the center of the planet. Feel this connection flow from the base of your spine all the way down to the center of planet and allow it to be as wide as your hips.

Being grounded supports you in being more present in your body, having an appropriate level of energy, and allows you to release any problems or foreign energy down your grounding.

Aura:

Your energy space doesn’t just end at your skin. Surrounding your body is an electromagnetic field of energy which is what you see through and are seen through. By owning this space and being aware of the edges of your aura you develop clearer boundaries.

This supports you in having more of your energy in your space instead of spreading it out, depleting it. It also prevents others from moving their energy and emotions into your space. Play with expanding and contracting the size of your aura as a way to get a feel for it. Generally, having your aura about an arms length away from your body, in front, behind, beside, above and below will support you in owning this space for yourself.

Have Your Energy:

Your energy often gets left with the people, projects and situations you have been focusing on throughout the day. To bring it back into your space you can create an image of a gold sun five or six feet above your head and imagine it’s like a magnet calling all of your energy into it.

Then bring it down through the top of your aura and into your body releasing all of your energy back into your own space. You will feel more refreshed and replenished having your energy with you.

Shift Your Energy:

Become aware of yourself as a spirit in the center of your head and play with shifting your energy from this place. Tune into your state of ease and lightness as a spiritual being, then say hello to your body and notice how it feels. If your body is feeling heavier than this, set your intention to have your body match your lighter state.

Here are exercises to support you in doing this.
  • Imagine having an amusement dial which you can turn on and turn up the volume. Allow this vibration of amusement to fill all the cells in your body.
  • Create a dot of clear gold in the center of your head and let it fill your whole head and then your whole body.
  • Become aware of the vibration of pure love and let this energy flow throughout your whole body.
The more we operate through our spiritual awareness the more easily we can shift our energy and create a healthy life. As the saying goes, we are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

It’s up to us to decide who’s in charge; our spiritual self or our analyzers and bodies. From there we create our own reality day by day, moment to moment.

The Aura: Your Energy Skin

by Francesca McCartney, PhD -

Most people do not realize that they have a second skin — an energy skin that protects and shields their energy system just as physical skin protects their inner organs.

Imagine having no skin. What would happen? All your organs would spill out onto the ground. Your veins and arteries would sag and bulge.

You would be defenseless against dirt, germs, and viruses. And, perhaps worst of all, you would look pretty frightening!

Your skin is a highly efficient protective layer between you and the external world. It holds all of your organs in place, it shields you, and it filters out foreign matter that could be dangerous or irritating to your inner organs.

Like physical skin, the aura is permeated with natural disease-fighting chemistry and it hosts the sensory communications of the nervous system.

This second skin is the boundary between your personal energy system and the energy of your environment; an illuminated wrap of life-force medicine; and a subtle nervous system receiving and sending energy messages.

This energy skin is your aura. Every living being has an aura.

The human aura field is distributed around the body like an ovoid, spherical, or egg-shaped cocoon of energy.

Clairvoyantly, it appears as a shape with different qualities in different places.

You may see the boundary as diffuse, well defined, smooth, or jagged.

You can perceive the aura clairvoyantly as color, brightness, darkness, shape, and density.

You can hear the aura clairaudiently as tone, sound, music, frequency, and vibration.

You can feel the aura using biotelemetry (The detection and measurement of a human or animal condition, activity, or function such as the heartbeat or body temperature) and psychometry (temperature changes, pulsation, tingling, pressure, or magnetism).

When you are feeling healthy, self-confident, calm, and grounded, your aura is healthy as well. A healthy aura is indicated by a cocoon of energy surrounding and extending out from the body at least 1 foot in all directions.

This positive protection field is composed of bright colors, strong vibrations, pure tones, and a full, smooth, egg-shaped boundary.

When you are sick, depressed, sad, or unsure of yourself, your aura is close to your body. The colors are most likely to be dull, murky, and dark. The frequency is slow and erratic. There may be breaks or tears in the boundary.

The shape could be bumpy and distorted. All of these indicate that your aura is not serving as a positive protection field between you and the energy of others and your environment.

An unprotective aura can be a cause of illness and distress for sensitive people. Without the natural filtering system of a positive protection field surrounding your body, you are open to environmental influences.

The frequency of different energies can coexist and overlap nondestructively in the same space; take, for example, radio and television frequencies. Much of the energy in your environment — mental, physical, and emotional — may be positive, but much of it is negative.

An Early-Warning System

Your aura is a multi-operational energy field. The aura also acts as a reception and relay network for subtle energies.

It delivers energy messages to the chakra system, which translates them into hormonal, nerve, and cellular activity in the physical body.

In general, the aura tends to hold present (rather than past) thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and interactions between yourself and your environment.

As the world first interconnects with your auric field, the freshest impressions, communications, and intuitive hits are woven into it.

As an early-warning system, your aura also detects energy disturbance not yet manifested. This aspect of the aura’s function is a preview of the future that can be utilized as a preventive tool.

Disease in the physical, emotional, or mental body is often preceded by a disturbance in the aura, or, if it originates within the physical body, it registers in the aura at the same time or oftentimes before it manifests in a person’s conscious mind or physical body.

When I practiced as a medical intuitive, I had a patient in the medical clinic who was in good health and having her annual health checkup.

The clinic doctor asked me to energetically scan her, and I picked up a reproductive-system problem in her aura. None of the medical tests confirmed my scan. Three weeks later she returned to the clinic because of uterine hemorrhaging.

Your aura is an early-warning system for disease. By paying attention to such forewarnings, you can take preventive healing action, whether it is medical, psychological, or energetic.

A grounded aura allows you to sense when energy is being directed at you from near or far, and gives you the choice to accept it or cleanse it out of your space.

This puts people and situations at a healthy distance from you, thus allowing them less power to unbalance you.

With a grounded aura, you will feel safer and more secure, and the quality of all your grounding anchor points will improve. Your aura, when functioning effectively, acts as a lightning rod for negative energy or thoughts that enter your space.

If your aura is not protecting you well, you might be hit by someone’s unhealthy energy transference, or you might feel that you are being verbally attacked when someone is simply transmitting information.

With a grounded aura, these undesirable intrusions into your system will be intercepted at the outer edge of your aura and automatically grounded out of your personal field and down into the earth. With practice, your aura will become an autonomic system of protection.

Positive Protection

A highly healthy aura nourishes us with a constant circulation of life-force energy.

It also protects us, because high-energy fields disintegrate energy that enters from lower-energy fields.

In order for your aura to act as positive protection it must be in a whole and healthy state of coherence.

When your aura is filled with life force, others will show respect for your boundaries.

With your intuition you can sense and heal aberrations in the field of your aura.

With intention and affirmation, you can quickly revive the potent vitality of your aura’s protective qualities. You need not be in quiet meditation to practice aura sensing and healing.

When you leave your home, the best health initiative is to walk into the outside world with a grounded, vibrant aura.

Physical, mental, or emotional abuse of any kind — real or imagined; from within yourself or from your environment — can affect all of your subtle-energy systems when you are not being conscious. At times, your positive intentions may be pushed out of focus, and you may find yourself unprotected and affected by chaos from the world or ill intentions from other people.

These are the times to be energetically proactive. Immediately scan your aura for aberrant patterns — energies that are not yours or attached themselves to your auric field and are operating below your level of positive intention.

The following story illustrates how to actively work with your aura in daily life. It comes from a twenty-five-year-old corporate secretary who is a highly clairsentient (acutely developed sense of empathy) and has practiced aura healing for one-year.

She had difficulty with a boss who constantly intimidated her; she felt his energy pushing out her own feelings and thoughts, leaving her speechless and vulnerable in his presence. She described this situation as a “violation of boundaries,” but she has now learned to use her aura as positive protection during these episodes.

The biggest aura revelation for me was discovering that the ways in which I had always tried to protect myself (being defensive, withdrawn, shut down, and angry) were energy drains in and of themselves, and that my boss was still able to “get in” and drain my energy.

The discovery of being grounded, being aware of my auric field, keeping my auric field grounded, and having healthy energy circulating through my aura literally changed my experience of life.

Now I truly feel safe and protected, and I am almost immediately aware when someone or something is trying to violate my boundaries — or if I’m ungrounded, energetically unprotected, or vulnerable. I feel like a different person than I was a year ago.

Try This!

Have you ever been in a roomful of people and seen a person walk in and all heads turn to look at him or her?

I see this as a manifestation of the person’s aura filling up the room, reaching out and touching people like an energy handshake.

Others call this charisma.

If you would like to bring attention to yourself during a speech, in a group, or for whatever reason, try this with your aura: Fill your aura with bright colors and expand your auric field into a large cocoon around your body.

Experiment first at home to find out how much you can expand your aura and which size is comfortable for you.

Some people can fill an entire room with their aura and feel comfortable and grounded, while others become scattered when their auras are expansive. Notice how others react to you when you practice this fun experiment.

I hope that this article has given you insights into your own aura and how you can use your auric field as a protective skin, and a passport to walking through the world with ease and grace.
