Serenity and Grace

by Debbie Milam -

Indeed life is full and what I am living and learning is in that fullness God is there ready and willing to comfort us and bring us serenity. All that is needed to receive God's grace is to accept life as it is, let go of the way we think things should be and welcome God to do what we cannot do for ourselves.

This is when we enter a state of allowing, a place of alignment with the highest good.

Throughout the years many of us have taken on so much responsibility, neglected our own needs and emotions and lost our connection to our higher power and ourselves. We tried to control our life circumstances as we hid the wounds of our childhood. We confused the God within us as having to be God ourselves.

This heavy burden of codependency has been exhausting. But we have a choice, we can choose to be loving in healthier ways, we can choose to allow others to experience their life journey, we can feel our emotions, we can nurture ourselves as the precious gifts that we are, we can let go and trust.

So at this moment I choose the grace of acceptance, I allow God to reveal what my next step is, I welcome God's love to enfold me and I am open and receptive to receive all that is good.

P R A Y E R
Dear God, in your infinite wisdom and love thank you for walking me through this journey.
At times I am feeling anxious about what is before me but I know thou art with me.
I welcome you to show me how to stay in this present moment.
I welcome you to show me the path to well being.
I welcome you into every cell of my mind, body and spirit.
I welcome your grace and love into my family.
I welcome your serenity into every fiber of my being.
I welcome the highest outcome to arise.
I welcome you to show me how to be excited and trusting about the unknown.
I welcome you to show me how to love in the healthiest way.
I welcome you to show me your immense favor upon my family.

I am ready and willing to stay present, to bask in your grace, to allow your will to unfold in the gentlest and easiest way.

I am ready to receive your highest good as you enfold me and those I love in your serenity, well being, light and love. Amen.

May the highest good come upon you and your loved ones.

Processing Grief

by Debbie Milam -

Although each of us is different, the one thing all of us will experience is the loss of a loved one. As so many are choosing to leave the planet there is a collective sadness that is filling the air.

In the past our family has experienced so much loss. So much at one time that we were never able to fully process one loss before experiencing another one. In the past month I experienced several transitions of loved ones.

Believing in an eternal nature of life always brought me peace, I could come up with a plethora of spiritual accolades surrounding the transition process.

Being on a spiritual path I was able feel the presence of my loved ones around me even after they had entered the etheric realm. Although this bypass felt better, I still had emotions that I needed to process. I never truly honored how important the grieving process was until now. I never realized how much I missed their physical presence in my life.

As I sat in the holy sanctuary of our temple last night our beautiful Cantor spoke about the collective grief each of us experiences, how grief enables us to face our own mortality and the gift that the grieving process holds. Her words helped me honor the emotions I was feeling.

I do believe walking through our grief is part of the ascension process. As we fearlessly face the losses we have encountered we honor the fullness of our experience.

Experiencing the integration of our humanness and divine nature simultaneously we ascend to a higher level on our life's journey. So at this moment I sit with my grief and accept it with love. I feel my emotions, then I cherish being alive. I appreciate every moment with my loved ones knowing how precious time is.

As I allow myself to feel my emotions this prayer arose.
May it bring peace to any of you who are grieving.
Dear God, As I walk through the abyss of grief I know that thou art with me. Through the sadness, through the tears, I sit in the silence and connect to the depth of your love. Held in your loving arms I find comfort and grace.

Thank you for blessing me with emotions, emotions that show how deeply I love others. Thank you for my tears for they cleanse my body and wash my soul. Thank you for the strength to move through these moments with ease. Thank you for the awareness that there is peace beneath the veil of sadness.

Thank you for showing me how to be present in what is most important in my life Thank you for the fully embodied joy that sits waiting to arise once I have released my emotions. Thank you for the knowing that I can use life to reaffirm life at all moments.

Thank you for the reminder of how precious life is and the aliveness that is always ever present. Thank you for the knowing that all is well and you are walking beside me at every moment. Amen.

May the spirit of your loved ones be
forever a guiding light in your lives.

Breaking Free

by Debbie Milam -

There comes a day when the pain of living as we always have can no longer be. A day when the masks of denial become so constricting that we lose sight of who we are. At that moment, an extraordinary group of teachers appear, encouraging us to risk letting go of the cloaks of adversity that have shrouded our souls for so very long.

At that same fraction of time, other magnificent, wounded healers receive the same message. You can no longer live as you have; it is time to step forward on your journey and we are here to lovingly guide you.

As we gather together, each a mirror of our radiance, a reflection of our pain, embodying the characteristics of those we love and those we need to forgive, we begin our transformation. Each soul brought together to midwife each other's healing. To help us break free of the shackles of shame, trepidation, and fear.

In this process, we begin to embrace the totality of who we are.

From the wounded little ones, to the conscious wise ones who have done so much work on ourselves. With the courage of a warrior and the vulnerability of a newborn, we transverse terrain that is so foreign, yet intimately familiar. We become aware of our buried unawakened mind and see how it has created chaos in our lives.

Then, moment by moment as we face the demons of our past we become stronger, healthier and more present. We begin to play life differently by seeing our patterns, our hidden addictions and the blocks that keep us from living fully. As we see these vices, we begin to choose whether we want to suffer any longer or decide to co-create a fuller, richer, more centered existence with our higher power .

We are reborn moment by moment and choice by choice.

Re-emerging into a new relationship with ourselves and with each other. Our journey is like that of a butterfly. At first satisfied in the comfort of our cocoon. Then as we grow, the pain of confinement and limitation becomes unbearable.

In the existential struggle of leaving our past behind, we break free from the bondage of our cocoon. We are weak and vulnerable, yet magnificent. As our wings emerge, we begin to explore life from an entirely different vantage point.

We are free to fly gracefully and unencumbered through the winds of change. As we transform individually, our metamorphosis expands collectively.

Now moving forward on this ever-changing journey of life, we continue to support each other with loving energy. Knowing that when one forgives, we all forgive. And as one heals, we all heal.

Our Relationship with Circumstances

by Debbie Milam -

There are many of you who are climbing through circumstances in your life that appear to be undesirable. As one who has climbed many times in my life I know how much you want things to change.

What I have found though is that the only thing we can change is ourselves, our perspective and our relationship to the circumstances in our lives. There are so many gifts that can be gained through your climb.

I rediscovered this wisdom last week while doing a walking meditation. I was walking amongst the rolling hills at our health club, covered by the shade of regal Banyan trees I felt enveloped by the majesty of nature. The summer breeze gently kissed my cheek as I began my daily conversation with God.

On this particular morning I was exhausted and not feeling physically strong. I asked God why there was struggle in life. In the quiet of my heart his loving words flowed through me.
Dear child, Fulfillment and inner peace does not happen because life is perfect. It unfolds moment by moment as you embrace and appreciate the fullness of your experience.
What causes struggle and blocks you from experiencing complete joy is your desire for people and things to be different than they are.
I know it has been hard for you, but keep climbing dear one. For in your climb you have received an abundance of gifts in the past and there are more to come. I celebrate your strength and I honor your courage as I walk beside you.
As these words reverberated in my soul, I continued to climb up the hills. My legs ached and I was so tired. But when I got to the top what I saw took my breath away.

The sun glistened like diamonds on the stillness of the lake, hundreds of tiny butterflies danced on the dew filled grass and dragonflies graced the air with their presence. I was in awe of the beauty.

This was my gift. I would not have been able to see these wonders from the vantage point of the sidewalk.

It was only when I had the courage to keep climbing that I was able to see the magnificence of the moment.

Throughout my life, the gifts that have arisen from my climb have been extraordinary. It is the contrast of my experiences that have given birth to my inner strength, my connection to God, a deep appreciation of life and a profound level of fully present joy.

Do not be afraid of your climb, embrace it, be present in it and find the gift in the blessings as well as the pain.

Then allow your emotions to flow with ease. As with everything in life these emotions will come and go.

What remains the same is the inner strength and peace that lies beneath these feelings. When you allow your emotions to arise, accept what is before you and ask God to bring only good from it, a new awareness begins to emerge.

It is an understanding that all is unfolding for your highest good in this present moment.

As you climb you have the choice to experience it as life enhancing or suffering.

If you choose to enhance your life through it and make peace with the circumstances you are experiencing undoubtedly something extraordinary will come forth.

May you find the strength, peace and courage to allow the highest good to unfold now and always. Peace and love to all.

4 Simply Steps to Making Heart-Based Decisions

by Debbie Milam -

FREE WILL and CHOICES:

Each and every moment we are given the wonderful gift of free will to make choices. Personal choices can be as simple as choosing what to wear or what to eat.

Then there are intrapersonal choices, decisions that affect another person.

Choices like deciding to be kind instead of right, the choice to honor the divine presence in your loved ones, the choice to choose love instead of fear.

These decisions not only have a profound effect on the other person they also deeply shape the person you are.

Finally, there are choices that affect our planet.

Choices like making wise environmental decisions that can bring the earth back into harmony and balance.

Choices like electing world leaders who value humanity and will strive to serve the greater good of all. These choices have long term ramifications and can shape our global experience.

When making difficult decisions that affect another person or the entire planet it is essential that we take time to go within and receive the clarity to make the highest choice possible.

4 simple steps to guide your process:
1. Learn as much as you can about the issue or issues. Read as many sources as possible to get to full picture of the situation, many times the truth is somewhere in the middle.
2. Listen to the intentions, not the fear. Much of what is portrayed to us by politicians and the media is fear-based. See beyond the illusion.
3. Take several deep breaths and go to your higher power. Ask for guidance so the truth can be clear. Invite God to help you make a decision that will serve the greater good of all.
4. Imagine the outcome of your choices in one day, one month, one year, five years. Then imagine the alternative choice in the same way.
Which feels better in your heart? Which choice has the potential to raise the consciousness of humanity? Which choice can bring about peace?
What an awesome responsibility it is to have the free will to make heart-based decisions.

The time is now to go within and discover the truth that can serve the highest good. The world is waiting for your choice, are you ready?
